Candace West is an award-winning South Florida photojournalist who spent more than 20 years working at The Miami Herald. Her experience in the news field allows her to capture images that tell a story. Recognized for her versatility, she can easily shift gears and cover a variety of styles – editorial, corporate, portrait, food / beverage, landscape and fine art. Environmental portraits on location for editorial and corporate clients -- bringing out their true nature in a relaxed environment. Her specialty is lifestyle photography, a style of portrait photography that captures real-life events, situations, or milestones in an artistic manner. A talented artist, West also uses mixed media to create one-of-a-kind pieces of art. Her collection of images of Mackinac Island in Michigan, has been featured in several galleries on the island. West printed the photographs the old fashioned way – in a dark room. Then using another dying art form, she hand colored the images.
